Pretties Wednesday: Nothin' like a Good Book...

Hey Prettie Peeps :)

I'm autoposting this for today because even though I'm probably somewhere chasing Mickey right now, I TOTALLY brought this with me!

When Christi challenged us Prettie Girls to create a bookmark, I couldn't resist. Just around that same time, my friend Janna gave me these BEAUTIFUL butterfly brads and they were screaming "use me! pick me!" So I grabbed my "Cuddle Me" Sophia, one of my favorite Sophias from Paper Pretties and worked this bookmark up before we left.

Hope you are all having a Prettie Wednesday and be sure to stop by the other Prettie Girls' blogs and check out what they did, too!

Have a fantastic day and see you back soon! Prettie Hugs.... ~Jess :)

LPS Monday: All in the (color) Family...

Hey everyone!

It's DEFINITELY all in the family for me this week as I am writing your from Disneyworld! I have had heinous internet issues since I've been in this room, and was on the phone for the last two hours with the internet people and it's STILL not working right...so I'm gonna make this short and sweet. There is a mouse that I need to meet tomorrow first thing in the morning!

Also, just so you know, if I'm not around to leave comments and come for a visit on your blog, well...you know why ;)

I gotta make this short and sweet, but before I go, The Little Paper Shop is having another weekly challenge and this time...we're keeping it all in the family, too! COLOR family, that is!

This week's challenge is to CREATE A MONOCHROMATIC CARD. Yep, plain and simple!
I used the brand new {Blessings} set to make mine. I LOVE the flourished cross and the wonderful sentiment about faith. Such an awesome reminder of how to keep it sometimes!

Well, I hope this post goes through...fickle things, these computers of ours...and Vista...oiy. Nightmarish I tell ya! I'm off to bed, but hope to see you guys play along this week! Be sure to leave a comment on the LPS blog if you do, or if you choose to upload to SCS, use keyword LPSC08.

Hugs!
Jessica :)

Blonde Ambition: Are you a Rockin' Rebel?

Hello all!

Happy Friday! I have some really fun news today...Club Anya is PROUD to present a new Contest for you! Introducing the ROCKIN' REBEL CONTEST!
Yep, that's right! Are YOU a Rockin' Rebel?

I started to think one night about how versatile Anyas and Ians are and how much fun I have with these stamps, and somewhere in the process, a Contest Idea was born. I had SO much fun devising a plan for this and when I told the DT about it, they couldn't resist either!

My sample for this contest, which runs for two weeks from today, is based on Madonna's blonde ambition years. YES! That IS the cone-bra! LOL!
I used the new Ballerina Anya to do her head and face, then cut out a long ponytail from Mermaid Anya. I used Dress Me Anya's body for the cone bra and some pants from the Dress me Clothes set. I added her famous "Marilyn" mole, some rad 90's makeup, and some Shimmerz in Pixie Dust on her pants. I then cut out the spotlight and stars and glammed those up too. This card is RIDICULOUS and I couldn't be more excited about this contest! Hope you can play, too!

WANT TO ENTER? Here's the scoop:

1.) Your challenge is to create your FAVORITE ROCKSTAR out of any Anya or Ian stamp (you MUST use an Anya or Ian stamp for this contest). We can't wait to see what you come up with! Feel free to BREAK ALL THE RULES...you know, gender, mix-matching heads and bodies, clothes, hair...you know, that kind of thing! More than likely, the more you mix it up, the better!

2.) This will be a JUDGED contest. The DT, Marie and I are looking forward to seeing ALL your awesome submissions and choosing a winner based on creativity and originality. We already know it's gonna be a TOUGH call!

3.) This contest will remain open until Friday, April 3nd, 2009 at 11:59 CST. All entries need to be uploaded to the Club Anya ROCKIN' REBEL gallery. Be sure to leave a comment on today's Club Anya post too, to let us know you played along! The winner will be announced on Saturday, April 4th on the Club Anya blog. Good luck to all who enter and we can't WAIT to see what you come up with!

Be sure to check out the Club Anya blog for complete details along with the PRIZE! See you there, and for now, GET ROCKIN'!

A VERY Prettie Birthday Hop!

Hello everyone!

It's a very special Prettie post today, so I'm posting today instead of tomorrow because we have a very special event for all of you today!

It's a Birthday Blog Hop Prettie Girl style! The fabulous Julie is turning a year older today and to celebrate the Prettie Girls are throwing a virtual birthday party! Cake, balloons, drinks and cards galore are just some of the things the Prettie Girls are busting out to celebrate! :)

The hop started at Jodi's so if you didn't start from there you might be missing out on some of the fun! :) When you reach the end of the hop make sure and leave a little love for Julie wishing her a Happy Birthday!

It was my turn to bring the balloons, so I used my beloved Flutter By Sophia stamp from Paper Pretties but masked the butterfly so she could carry the balloons safely to the party! Well, now that you're all here I just have a message for the birthday girl:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULES! May the coming year bring you much love, happiness, and health! It's a pleasure to serve on this DT with you and thanks for all you do for us Prettie girls! Hugs!

Be sure to head on over to Danielle's blog...she's got some yummy app's for us! See you over there and hope you enjoyed the Bday hop!

Pretties Wednesday: Another Fiesta!

Hey Prettie Peeps...

When it came to be my turn two weeks ago to issue a challenge to the Prettie Girls, I had birthdays on the brain! DD's was last Friday, DH's is this Tuesday and my little DS's (ok, not so little...they're getting so big!) will be 7 at the end of the month! Whew! It's the all-broke network over here in March LOL!

Anyway, I kept things simple and issued a Birthday card challenge. Yep, simple as that...make a birthday card.

I got this BG "Cupcake" paper a while back and hadn't really gotten to use much, so it got to come out to play along with this SUPER cute Hola Chica stamp from Paper Pretties! She is the April Stamp of the Month, so you still have time to snag her!

You can read all about the Stamp of the Month club here, but basically it means that she will be released to members sometime during the month BEFORE she is available on May 1st to purchase regularly. How fun is that? She is such a cutie pie...definitely a Fiesta in a stamp! I love her and she's super fun to color, too!

Be sure to check out what the UBER-fab DT made today for my challenge...the links are on my sidebar! I'm off to check them out now! I can't wait to see what they came up with as I know they will all be amazing!

See you back tomorrow ;) Hugs!

Lots going on today, for sure! Today is also Twinkling Tuesday and we have a very special "Temporary Twinkie" Guest Challenger with us today, Ava Grace. Ava is Taylor's DD and she challenged us to QUITE the color combo:

WOWZA! I wasn't sure WHAT I was going to do w/ this one, as I'm not very partial to green. Well, ok, not THIS shade of green, LOL! I didn't even have it to be quite honest, so my good friend (and SU extraordinaire) Darla helped me out with that one! I mean, I had to deliver, as a VERY cute three year old is relying on me :) This was great, Ava Grace! I think we all can use a little forcing to "think out of the box" every now and again, right? Speaking of boxes, check out this cute little graphic that Jen drew...and in the spirit of St. Patty's Day! Cute!

My son couldn't have been happier when I pulled out my Rachelle Anne Miller Frog stamp from Stampavie! Aren't these little guys INSANELY cute?! I LOVE them! I have been waiting and wanting to use this stamp for SOME time and so it definitely paid off, as today was the day!
After coloring them in with my Copics, I added just a bit of sparkle to the flowers and heart and then put this card together using the Roses on Paper sketch from last week. Unfortunately, I was a BIT too late to enter, but my sweet bloggin' friend Rosette drew this sketch and I LOVE it! I will definitely be using it again!
Well, enjoy your Tuesday and be sure to take time to visit the TT blog as Kimmie is our featured stamper this week! You can also check out the rest of the wonderful "Twinklette's" blogs today too...they are:

LPS Preview: {Bound by the Heart}

Hey all!

Today is the first of two preview days for the two BEAUTIFUL new releases at The Little Paper Shop!

In addition, our monthly DT challenge is always the 15th of the month...this is basically just a fun little challenge that the LPSDT gals issue to each other. This month, it was Mel's turn, and she issued us a challenge to "Stitch it up!" We could either sew, stitch, or Faux sew on our cards.

This month, since the 15th marks our first preview day, we would LOVE you guys to play along! Be sure to check out the LPS BLOG today for details! You could WIN a FREE stamp set, so see you there!

My sample card for our new set, {Bound by the Heart}, uses faux stitching. A few weeks ago, my friend Jami was the featured stamper on SCS. I was so excited for her, but my week was SO crazy busy that I didn't get to play along with the challenge to CASE one of her cards, so I decided I still wanted to pay tribute to this AWESOME honor by using her card's layout for my card today. You can check out Jami's card HERE. Congrats again, Jami....better late than never right? LOL!!!
Well, I hope you guys enjoy our first of two preview days today. Be sure to check back for another post today...it's a BUSY Sunday today on my blog! See you guys soon, and stay tuned tomorrow for another LPS preview, too!

Hugs,
Jessica :)

Hola Chica...it's a Fiesta!

Hi everyone :)

I'm posting my Pretties Friday card now as I will have two posts for Friday, but love this card so much I thought I'd show her off a little bit early :D

So, my DD is 9 today. My oldest. I cannot even believe that she is such a big girl. I have to focus on the fun stuff today because I feel like crying at the same time..I'm such a sap! I'm just so amazed at how fast she's growing up and how amazingly smart, beautiful, and talented she is. I am completely and TOTALLY head over heels amazed by her....so HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sweetheart! I love you so much, Madelynn!

As is tradition, we are going to be having Chevy's for her birthday dinner, complete with the keepsake sombrero lol, so I was definitely in the mood for a mexican fiesta, and what better way to get in the spirit than with this new Hola Chica stamp from Paper Pretties! Isn't she a party on a stamp? I LOVE her! She is the April Stamp of the Month, and if you haven't signed up for our awesome Stamp of the Month club yet, you can check out all the details here. Sign up before the end of this month and you'll receive her in April, sometime during the month before she's released to the public in May. How fun is that?
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE this new Raspberry Tart paper that I got my hands on last week and I'm seriously enamored..wow. Not only is it my FAVORITE color but the rich patterns and shades are just gorgeous! Very fun and funky and I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot more of both!
Well, that's about it for now...I'll be back later Friday ...and be sure to check back...I've got something WILD to show you!...

Pretties Wednesday: Caffeine please!

It's no secret that I, uh, kind of LOVE my coffee! This week I need it more than ever as some late nights and busy days have kept me hoppin'....maybe IV caffeine is in order LOL!

Two weeks ago, Jackie Pedro challenged the Prettie Girls to use BAJA BREEZE, KRAFT, and CHOCOLATE CHIP on our next card. Now, as you may recall, I issued a similar challenge a few months back because I simply LOOOOOOVE this color combo! So awesome choice, for sure!

Plus, it reminds me of coffee and hence had to use one of my favorite sets from Paper Pretties, Look Who's Perky! I used COFFEE Shimmerz (had to!) to paint my mugs along with my BG72 Copic which matches Baja Breeze really well. To top it off, I put a little Angel Wings on the "steam" just to give it a little more shimmer.

You can check out what the rest of our Prettie family whipped up for this colorfully sweet challenge by visiting their blogs as well. Show some love to:

On Friday, I'll be showing you our new Hola Chica stamp, which is our April Stamp of the Month! Have you SEEN how awesome she is? You have until the end of March to sign up for the Stamp of the Month club! This is a great way to collect the monthly releases of our super cute Sophia stamps, and the best part? You'll receive your stamp sometime during the month BEFORE she is released to the public! How fun is that? In addition, you'll gain access to a Members-only gallery of Stamp of the Month creations and we of course, LOVE to see what you make, too!

And speaking of those Copic Markers... I have something SUPER fun to tell you on that front as well. Did you know that Paper Pretties is now carrying Copic markers for 20% off the retail price? How amazing is THAT? Check it out today and begin stocking up on some great basic colors, whether you're just starting out or have been using the markers for a while now...you won't be sorry you did!

Last but not least? Like this card? You can create one similar from the Prettie sketch of the week. Check out THIS post on The Paper Clip Blog to check it out!
Have a Prettie week everyone! Hugs!

Twinkling Tuesday: He's a Natural...

Hello there!
It's another Twinkling Tuesday in blogland and I am SUPER excited to tell you this week that we have a VERY special guest sketch artist, a.k.a. "Temporary Twinkie" this week....my very own son, Jack! Check out his AMAZING sketch that he has for you this week:

Isn't it awesome!? Yep, in case you're wondering, this was drawn by my adorable six year old son and YES! This sketch calls specifically for paper piercing!!! lol. Can you imagine that there is ANYTHING greater to a six year old boy sitting down and stamping with mom, staring at that SUPER cool and SHARP tool...the paper piercer. "What is that Mom?" "It's a paper piercer". "What do you use it for?" "To poke little holes in paper"....'Why would you want to do that, Mom"...."because you can sew, pretend to sew, or just poke pretty patterns in your paper, honey". This is all ok for a while...until the next time, and the time after that....and then eventually, he is asking me "Mom! Where is that tool you use to put the little holes in the paper"?

Oh dear, and we are hooked on a cool new toy. LOL! So little by little, the asking starts to get more frequent...."Hey, Mom, can I watch you use that paper needle"...."Hey Mom, can you use the thing that makes the holes in the paper?"...lol get the point? "Mom, can I use that?" Ok, this is where we draw the line. Not quite age apppropriate, unfortunately.
Needless to say, it was with MUCH enthusiasm that I said yes when my little dude asked me to draw his own sketch for Twinkling Tuesday. I was thrilled! Paper piercing and all, this is a FABULOUS creation and I hope I did it justice!

I used the "Natural Boy" stamp from Lelo Design, made by Stampavie. I let Jack pick out the image that he wanted me to use since this was his big debut in the sketch world :) I had a GREAT time coloring this image and can't wait for Jack to draw some more sketches...as he is a "NATURAL" for sure! How fun!

Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to see what the other TT has cooked up for ya today. Kim is our very special featured stamper this week on the Twinkling Tuesday blog...so be sure to check her out! Want to check out the rest of the Twinkle Team? Awesome! You'll be so glad you did! The links are on my sidebar.

Last but not least? I'd LOVE for you to play along! Please leave a comment on the Twinkling Tuesday blog linking your card so that all of the team can see...or if you choose to upload to SCS or PCP, use keyword MTTSC13. See you in sketchville! Hugs!

LPS Monday: A Good Book...

Hello all,
Happy Monday! I'm posting a little early this week to put my LPS card up in time to qualify for this week's Mojo Monday sketch. I loved this week's sketch! So, with that, HAPPY LPS MONDAY! :)
Well, we had a fun filled weekend here at the house...sheesh. Crazy crazy! Friday we attended Family Movie Night at the school. It was put on by the club that DD is in, so she served popcorn and juice boxes to everyone flooding in for the 7pm showing of Madagascar 2. I've seen it 47 times now *(not really, lol, but seems that way hee hee), but this time was my favorite.
I will tell you that even though my butt was numb by the end of it, there is NOTHING like sitting in the dark, curled up on a blanket with 4 little people in their pajamas clung to different parts of your body, all while camped out on the Gym floor of our little school. It was really, really cute, I have to say. I hope they do something like that again...we had a great turnout and the kids LOVED being able to hang out at school at night in their jammies. Too cute!

Speaking of all things DD related, that poor kid had assessment testing all week last week. I mean, seriously, that's pretty intense, I think, for 3rd grade. We were all instructed to send extra snacks, etc. but seriously? For five days straight? Then w/ homework on top of it lots of work and pretty draining. There wasnt' much time this past week for her fave pasttime, reading a good book. She was SO tired. So, at the end of this long week, I rewarded her w/ my childhood copy of Charlotte's Web that she had been eyeing at my parents' house, and I am giving her today's card as a congrats for all her hard work last week. I really wanted her to ENJOY the weekend reading and relaxing, just like the card says ;)

Isn't this little Jena Book Image from the Little Paper Shop too cute? Totally reminds me of my girl. She is one of several BRAND NEW digital images from The Little Paper Shop, on sale NOW!

Want to play along in this week's challenge on the LPS blog? We'd love you to! ALL you need to do this week is create a card using a new digital image from The Little Paper Shop. Don't have one? Well, wait until you see how reasonable they are! Grab one...or a few...and have fun playing! There's a prize this week, too!
One lucky winner will be chosen to win their choice of one of the new Digital images, so good luck and be sure to check out the rest of what our talented DT has for you today...links are on my sidebar!
Have a great day, all!

A Prettie "Tripped Out" Friday...

Hey everyone!
It's Friday which means it's my day to post another card using Paper Pretties Stamps! I didn't get a chance to show you all this, my very, very "trippy" card.

Last Sunday, on the 1st, Paper Pretties had our monthly "Stamping in your Jammies" party to celebrate our new releases. One of the fun things we do is issue challenges out to all who attend and sometimes play for prizes! How cool is that?

Our first challenge of that evening was to create a card using colors that reminded us of our favorite cartoon character. Well, I think we all know that Alice in Wonderland is mine...and you know, that made me look at the newly released "Hippity Hoppity" Sophia in a WHOLE new light!
I was coloring in her dress using blue and white just like Alice, when it hit me...OMG! She IS Alice..and she's ALSO the White Rabbit LOL! So, it was sort of fun to see the two main characters of my favorite movie get morphed into one in my head.

Add to that, this SUPER "Trippy" paper I found at my new favorite LSS...and I say NEW Favorite only because I JUST discovered it and it IS my favorite already hee hee....It's by Sassafrass Lass. I saw the mushrooms and immediately thought of the movie, too. So it all had to happen...you know how that goes.

I used last week's Mojo Monday sketch to create this card and I'm not sure about ALL those yellow brads, although it WAS a good way to use 'em, if anything, right? Well, have a great weekend everyone!
I have a busy one planned but I will try to check in w you all! Hugs! ~Jessica ;)

A little TLC...

Hey everyone!

I can't believe it's Thursday already....yikes! We have a super busy weekend coming up with some school activities, Pom registration (already! for next season!), and all kinds of stuff...although I got some MAJOR cleaning/organizing under my belt. Oh, no, NOT for my house! My stamp area, sillies! LOL! It's shaping up to be more functional and less mess, so I am happy about that.
I have a card for you today featuring this SUPER SWEET "My Sweet Lili" image from Stampavie by the amazing Sarah Kay. Isn't this stamp just absolutely darling? It reminds me of my girls and their favorite teddies.
Actually, it reminds me a lot of how I felt as a child with some of my stuffed animals too. I was going through an old box that my Mom gave me about a year or two ago from up in their attic with some albums, my flute from high school, etc. and in it was my CareBear. The first one I ever got (ha ha yes, I was a child of the 80's LOL!). I am now in my 30s and put that bear on my bed when I make it in the morning. Isn't that silly? To me, it just symbolizes a part of my childhood that I will always want to hang on to. Being sick this week and having little ones getting over this awful cold/flu also makes me think of this, because my Dad would always bring me a little something home from work when I wasn't feeling well. The Carebear was one of those things. One time it was "Magic Sand"...do you remember that? OMG SOOOO 80's! It's the little things, like being taken care of when we're sick, and our favorite childhood toys, that come flooding back to me simply from looking at this image. That is really something, isn't it?
Be sure to check out the Stampavie website for a complete list of stores all over the world where you can purchase these adorable and beautifully detailed stamps. Have a wonderful day!
Hugs,
Jessica :)

Patchin' Up my week...

...and trying to get stuff done! SHEESH! I can't believe it's Wednesday already! I hate to complain, but this is just feeling like one of those weeks when I just CAN'T get ahead! Not only do I have a ton that I HAVE to do, but a ton I WANT to do LOL and so I'm just going to sit here and pout that it's not getting done ha ha ha...sorry!

Today is Pretties Wednesday though and that always puts a smile on my face! Two weeks ago, Jackie P. issued a challenge to the Prettie Girls to use patchwork on a card. OIY! Can I tell you I am NOT a patchwork girl LOL! I was at an Archiver's over the weekend with some friends (we'll get to that later :) and found this new Penny Lane DP from My Mind's Eye and knew that it was patchwork worthy, so that was a good find. I have been itching to use our new Hola Chica stamp, so even though I don't usually combine my Spanish flair with Country Kitchen, I was determined to make this work!

The new Hola Chica is the April Stamp of the Month! She is amazing, isn't she? I had a ton of fun coloring in the grapes and the rest of the fruit on her head...she is just too adorable. Are you new to Paper Pretties? Check out all the information you need on the Stamp of the Month club HERE. While you're checking us out, be sure to stop by The Paper Clip, the Paper Pretties blog, for some great ideas, features, and weekly Challenges! You'll be happy you did!

Speaking of challenges, It's MY turn to issue a challenge to my Prettie Peeps this week :) March is definitely a huge month for me...3 out of my kids birthdays in this month alone! Can you believe it! DH's too! So, in honor of that, my challenge to the Prettie Girls is to simply, make a birthday card! It can be for a child, friend, relative, etc. That's all! Painless (I hope!), right girls? *bats eyelashes*

Have a Prettie wonderful Wednesday, everyone!

Last but not least, here is a card I made a few weeks ago that I have not yet been able to get up here on the blog...busy, I guess LOL! I went a little crazy making the fence and cutting out the raspberries, but I think it's one of my favorites and I just might work up the guts to submit this one for publication...we'll see....It worked out great though, because today of all days, we are ROCKING THE FARM, just like the name of this stamp set!

Have an awesome day, and be sure to scroll down for my Twinkling Tuesday post! Congrats to all! HUGS!

Need. More. Coffee....

Hey everyone!

Happy Twinkling Tuesday with a a double shot of espresso on top! I have to admit that today, I am absolutely exhausted. It's going to be another busy week...probably worse that last week LOL..but sometimes things just get taxing, you know? Not this stuff, but just life stuff...and of course, the complaint that most of us probably have...not enough time to do the things i enjoy, like more stamping! LOL...

Anyway, I am still feeling sick and actually taking another detour to the dr. today, so I'm hoping that will help. However, I am SO excited because we have some super fun stuff going on today. First off, our dear Heather is the featured stamper this week over on the Twinkling Tuesday blog! Go check out her super cool post! I sort of miss having the featured stamper for the TT here on my blog, because it was my chance to rave about that person.

So, I will just tell you this. Heather is a dear, dear person who I am glad to be getting to know. She breathes so much life and enthusiasm into the Twinkle Team and is also extremely attentive. Heather takes the time to leave the most wonderful comments on people's blogs and I just think she's the sweetest! You can really tell she cares. Not to mention the fact that her blog posts are amazing. SO much attention to detail and the pictures...oh! the pictures! Most of you know that blogger...well, isn't always my friend, esp. when it comes to uploading pics! So this is especially impressive to me!

Now, she is going to be mad at me, because there is one thing about her that you may know from reading her comments on my blog...she isn't very fond of brown. And while I SWEAR I didn't do this on purpose...isn't this little "Barista" just the cutest? I LOVE coloring in these images and couldnt' resist pulling out some liquid pearls for the "whip" on my latte! My son Nicky helped me make this card. Chef Ian from The Greeting Farm is one of his favorite stamp sets! He had a blast and so did I! I just got this Paisley embossing folder that my friend Heather (a different Heather lol) picked up for me...thanks Heather! It totally matched the paper so I got to play with it right away. That's always the best, right?

So, yes, this card is brown, but NOT on purpose hee hee...I mean, it's a coffee card...so it kinda HAS to be right ;) ? Anyway, be sure to check out the CUTENESS over on Heather's blog, the Twinkling Tuesday sketch blog, and the rest of the Twinkle Team, as their links are on my sidebar! Want to play along with us? We'd LOVE you to! If you upload to SCS/PCP, use keyword MTTSC12. Leave us a comment on the TT blog too to let us know you did! We can't wait to see what you create!
While we're at it, ANOTHER exciting announcement:

Please help me welcome my very close friend DARLA WILSON to the Twinkle Team! Welcome Darla! I have been begging, nagging, requesting, suggesting that Darla join us ever since the beginning of DD's little journey into sketchdom...and she finally agreed! Darla has an awesome NEW blog and is not only creative, but the kindest heart you could meet and I am thrilled to have her!
Wow! Lots happening on this Twinkling Tuesday! Stay tuned next week for a VERY special "Temporary Twinkie"...as the handsome and talented Jack, who just happens to be my DS, debuts HIS very first sketch! Could this be any more exciting of a day....

....yes, yes it can. Stay tuned for another post...it's a big one!
