December Previews begin for The Craft's Meow!...

Hey, everyone!

Happy Saturday!  I'm looking forward to the weekend- what a crazy busy week!
My daughter started dancing competitively this year and we were at the studio pretty much every day this week.   Karate, girl scouts, and other activities ran as scheduled for my other kids and then a VERY exciting first Basketball game of the season for Jack and Nick!  They WON their first game- ohhh my gosh was it exciting.  My boys made every basket but one in their 18-13 WIN against the reigning championship winners from the season prior.  I think my little guys are STILL on cloud 9 and so is this proud mama!  Can't wait to do it all over again today!
Last night, Madelynn attended her first "lock-in" at the dance studio with the entire competitive team.  They had pizzas, we all pitched in appetizers, snacks, and drinks and there were 30+ giddy girls and one very cute little guy ages 4-16 twirling about.  FUN times!

Enough about all that, though- that's maybe not why you're here!  Did you see this FUN ANNOUNCEMENT on The Craft's Meow store blog yesterday?  I am SO excited to be their December guest.  Lisa Hjulberg, the owner, and I met years ago in cyberspace here and finally got to meet in person at CHA in the winter of 2010.  She is just as sweet as can be and I cherish not only the face-to-face time we've had but all of the heartfelt emails.  Lisa also was on the Club Anya team as a Guest for TGF and is super talented!  I'm so excited to be joining a fabulous team of designers for the month of December!

Today we have TWO NEW SETS to preview, both by the super talented Nina Brackett!

I bring you:

Lovely Labels 18:

and Sent with Love:

Both of these GORGEOUS sets will be released on December 7th in the TCM store during a SUPER fun DT blog hop and I'm really looking forward to it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I'll be back on Monday w/ More TCM previews!
Be sure to stop by the Craft's Meow blog now to check out MORE previews and fun info!

Time Flies...

Hey, everyone,

I'm back with a special post today as I've been asked to be the Guest Designer this week for my friend Danni's "Flutter-By Wednesday" challenge :)

Thanks so much, Danni for having me today!  The challenge this week on her blog is an open challenge to just use a butterfly, fairy, or angel on your projects.  I have had these adorable Butterfly 3D stickers from my cousin/BFF Kim for a while and they were calling to be used for today's special card!

The sentiment is from Unity's November Kit of the Month.
TIME FLIES.

I also used the RCC (Ribbon Carousel challenge) sketch today by Laura to make today's creation:

My card has a special meaning today, too.  One of the reasons I love butterflies so much and why they've always been so important to me came at a young age.  Tomorrow will be the 20th anniversary of my childhood best friend's death as a result of a senseless and tragic accident.  While time surely does fly, I guess I can't believe it's been 20 years.

Unfortunately, any photos I have of my friend and I together are in storage from when we moved and I realized where I had put the three photo albums i have-both of our photos together and also the newspaper clippings from the accident that claimed her life 8 days after it occurred.    She had a smile that could light up a whole block, didn't she?

I miss you, Meg...and I thank you for helping me to be the responsible teenager I was and pray that my children will make the same sound decisions one day when faced with what my friend was faced with.  She wasn't drinking but got into a car with people who had been.   I posted about it a few years ago and the whole issue of drinking and driving will forever be a crusade of mine whenever I can pursue it and admonish others to really think before they make a foolish decision that could take a life...or more than one.  I am so grateful that her mother and sister are still in my life today.   Meggan and I met in Children's choir.  I attended the Catholic school within the church but Meggan went to the public school but came for choir practices.  We became fast friends and loved to sing together.  One day during choir practice as we were sitting in our chairs listening to Sister Bernadette talk (I don't' think she was supposed to do this then-but she couldn't' wait, lol), she gave me one of those 'broken heart' Best Friends necklaces and had our names engraved on the back.  I remember feeling like the bees knees that day.  I'm so grateful for that.  For tennis in the street.  For piano playing and singing and for the fact that she accidentally slammed my finger into my swing set playing tag when I was 12 and it broke and has been crooked ever since :)  Makes me think of her whenever I look down at it :)

While retelling these few stories makes me smile, I often wonder what it would be like if she was still here, and relive the tragic events each year not really for me, but as a parent I can't help but think of her wonderful mother losing her baby and as a person who is super close with my baby sister,  I just ache for my friend Jen who longs for her little sister back.

I've learned so much over the years, and 20 of them really have flown by.   Life has always been more precious since I was 15 years old and won't ever forget getting that phone call.
Life is precious.
butterflies are free.
Novembers are hard..but hope lives and I think Meg lives through that hope- that if even one person tells her story and prevents another senseless accident...well...that would be nice.

Thanks so much to DANNI for having me as the Guest designer today on the Flutter By Wednesday challenge blog...and thanks, everyone, for reading.  Hug your loved ones a little tighter today :)
and EVERY day  <3

A Deconstructed Haunting...

Hi, everyone!

{{{PLEASE scroll down for my HELMAR post and giveaway today!  Thanks!}}}

I have been SO out of it this week being on Fall break I seriously forgot what day it is...but you know what?  Yay! It's THURSDAY..and time for another Deconstructed Sketch and STAMPER's DREAM post!

I have to admit that I don't create too many Halloween cards, but this really cool "Crowscape" stamp from Stampendous, available at Stamper's Dream, really intrigued me!  This is SUCH a cool, eerie background, isn't it?

I paired it up with some super cute "Mischievous" papers from My Mind's Eye, also from Stamper's Dream!  I LOVE this Halloween paper and I think it's just about the cutest 6x6 stack I have seen!

Be sure to check out the STAMPER'S DREAM store to see the latest product and to snag these cute Halloween items cuz you still have plenty of time to make a few cards!  ;)

****************************************
As for today's layout of my card, it's thanks to the FANTASTIC Deconstructed Sketch today:

I really love this one and hope you'll check out the rest of the Deconstructed Sketch team.

In addition, we have a FUN announcement!  We are looking for a GUEST DESIGNER at the Deconstructed Sketch!  Here's how to apply:

Magical Swirls...

Hey, everyone!

Today I have another card using the super cute "Merry Snowman" by Stampendous which is available at Stamper's Dream!

I LOVED this set the minute I saw it and the sentiment is so pretty that I decided to use it on it's own today along with some pretty bling and tied some grosgrain ribbon off with one of my fave wood buttons :)

I couldn't wait to dive into some more "North Country" Designer Paper by Prima. Isn't it so vintage pretty?  Michelle has the most gorgeous line of Prima papers and embellishments...and they coordinate SO well together!

Be sure to stop by Michelle's blog to see this GORGEOUS project using more Prima North Country goodness...and just in case you missed it, here's Michelle's super sweet announcement regarding me having come on to the "Dream Team" this month!

Thanks for stopping by and please SCROLL DOWN for my RIBBON CAROUSEL post for today!

Am I Dreaming?...

Nope.  I pinched myself a FEW extra times this morning in all the excitement!
 What's more?
I have ANOTHER bit of exciting news today!

{{{Please SCROLL DOWN if you are here for The Greeting Farm's Blog Hop, thank you!}}}

Ok....still pinching....because I have been asked by the lovely Michelle Rodgers to be the October Guest Designer for STAMPER'S DREAM!
StampersDream
I adore this lady...have only met her twice in person at CHA but we stalk each other on Pinterest sometimes, LOL ;)

Anyway- I couldn't be MORE excited to announce this today and I have a fun card to start the month off right using this adorable "Merry Snowman" Cling stamp set by Stampendous and I think he is the cutest little thing!   I decorated the inside of my card too because I LOVE this "Merry and Magical" sentiment. Isn't the font SUPER gorgeous?

I will definitely be stamping the inside of my Christmas cards with this, regardless of what I use on the outside.  Not only is it the perfect size, but Christmas, to me, is all about the MAGIC.  The miracle of the season not to mention the magic written all over my children's faces this time of year.  Perfect!

I used the new "North Country" 6x6 Pack by Prima along with some miscellaneous buttons and colored this cutie with my Copic markers.  The warm grey's are a perfect match to use on the snowman paired with this paper pack.  Love it!    I finished this sweet little guy off with some Crystal Stickles for his hat and star :)

Thanks so much for sharing my STAMPER'S DREAM announcement today and please don't forget to SCROLL DOWN for more from me today :)   I am having the BEST Saturday!  HAPPY October, everyone!

"Adventure Bound" with 2 challenges in ONE!...

Hey, all!

I'm back today with not one...but TWO challenges in ONE with my Tuesday challenge and guest post for Sparkle Creations, and also my bi-weekly post for the Ribbon Carousel challenge!

Today at Sparkle Creations we have a " FAVORITE SONG" challenge.  Well, I have too many to choose just ONE...but a song very near and dear to my heart is "Life is a Highway", especially the Rascal Flatts version!  With all the amazing changes going on right now, I thought it was appropriate.

Oh- and speaking of change- this is NEVER easy, but I wanted to announce that I have had a WONDERFUL run with Stamping Bella and am moving on creatively from that team.  It was a fantastic seven months and I adore their stamps and you'll definitely still see them on my blog!  I love the girls and Em and know that our friendship doesn't know boundaries between design and everything else, so I can't wait to hang out with her again in L.A. next year :)   Thanks to the team for the fun camaraderie and this isn't goodbye...just...'see'ya around :)  Never easy though to walk away from something you love...is it?

Alrighty!  Today I'm using Bicycle Chloe, cuz she's ADVENTURE bound...on that highway we call life :)

The SCRS September Sale featuring the sweet "Emily"character is still going strong at SCRS, but you ONLY have til the 23rd, so be sure to check it out!

Last but not least, don't forget to visit the rest of the awesome SCRS girls:
******************************************

Last but not least, the fabric/felt on my card is for this week's Ribbon Carousel challenge, 'The FABRIC of our lives...":

I used some extra thick Celery grosgrain from Ribbon Carousel.com and a "Gluber" to make a rolled fabric flower...what do you guys think!?

Check out all the awesome SPONSORSHIP details on the RCC post today to see how you can enter to WIN a prize pack of felt!

Be sure to check out the RCC girls playing along this week, too!  They are wonderful, talented, and definitely worth visiting:

That's all for me today!  Whew!
Hope I've kept you entertained and I'll see you back here tomorrow!

So, thoughts?  What do you think?
Can I pull off the CAS look or stick to the stitching?  LOL!
Thanks to Sara, Sav, and the whole ATU crew for pulling me out of my comfort zone this week and into today's Sweet Sundaye post ;)

A few "good apples"...for sure...

I am SO thankful for the people in my life and excited to bring you another post from Avocado Arts today, featuring a few good apples ;)

{{{Please scroll down for my Sparkle Creations preview post- thank you!!!}}

Hey, again, everyone!

Today is day 3 of some serious rain and I wish I could blow it all to my friends in Austin who really need it!   Speaking of friends, I have some really good ones.   As life's little trials and tribulations rear themselves around a corner every now and then, I am constantly reminded of the GOODNESS of people.  Of the COMPASSION of people...and of the strong resolve of the human spirit and how beautiful a few 'good apples' can be :)

Speaking of which, I have a card today featuring the September kit, "Thankful for You":

I am loving the All Spice paper pack from My Mind's Eye- it is too adorable and really great for Fall!  I used it for my card today along with a little Distress Ink in Antique Linen and created it according to the Deconstructed Sketch today, DS18:

I love the sentiment I used from the "Thankful for You" kit, "thankful for you, and ALL you do."  You guys know who you are ;)

Thanks for letting me share some more Avocado Arts with you today!    You can check out more on the Avocado Arts BLOG as I'll be making a little appearance over there too ;)  I am having a blast as the September Guest Designer and really love these quality clear stamps.  If you guys don't yet have any Avocado Arts stamps in your craft collections, what are you waiting for?   They have an awesome kit program but the commitment is totally up to you!   Thanks for stopping by and Happy Fall y'all....I think it's here, at least until next week when we're back in the 70's again ;)

A sketch with some SPARKLE...

....as in, Sparkle Creations!

{{{PLEASE Scroll Down for my Ribbon Carousel post featuring the new BANTASTIC set by The Greeting Farm!}}}

Hey, everyone!  Happy Tuesday and I hope you've enjoyed your holiday weekend.  DH has been away working all weekend, so we spent the days relaxing, staying in our PJ's, crafting, reading, watching movies, baking chocolate chip cookies and staying out of the rain.  It's been raining for 2 days straight and that's OK- we really needed it!

I also spent some time coloring for a VERY exciting announcement today...my sweet friend Sparkle Smith and her fabulous DT coordinator Stephanie Kraft have asked me to join the Sparkle Creations crew as September guest!  I am very excited and honored to be working amongst such talent.  Sparks and I go back a few in the crafting world and I adore her and her cute stamp line!  (she's also my CHA 'homie', as I'm sure you've seen on Facebook or around blog land, LOL...and makes a great taxi partner as well!  Right, Sparks? )

Speaking of rain...the temps have cooled a bit and it's starting to remind me of Fall whether I like it or not, LOL!    Today's challenge is to create with THIS sketch by DT member (and my Farmer friend!), Kim Yu:

Here is my card and take on the sketch (albeit a bit 'tweaked' :) using the adorable Broomstick Lucy stamp:

I have to say that Sparkle Creations stamps are awesome in quality.  REALLY awesome.  They come untrimmed red rubber and also can be mounted easily on cling foam, also available in the Sparkle Creations store!

I'll leave you with some fantastic inspiration featuring this week's challenge:

I hope you'll play along in the sketch challenge and you can visit THIS page for all the info and details of how to enter and qualify for the weekly prize drawing!  I'll be back in a short while with a preview of the September releases at SCRS, so thanks as always for staying tuned and thanks for the warm welcome, as well!
