Keeping the Faith...and OPERATION JULIE Smile!...

Hey, everyone!

I am SO glad it's the weekend.  Oh, my word this week has been BIZZZZAAAAYYYYYY!
We have some AMAZING things going on here... lots of fun things going on at home and some FUN announcements coming up from both my family and my creative path and I just am kind of bursting...but that will have to wait because I have a TGF "heART journaling" page to share with you today...and

....it's ALL about FAITH.

My husband and I have been talking a lot about this lately, and he's been watching some shows and listening to a few radio talk shows in addition to what we learn at church.  We have had a lot to pray on lately in our personal life, some decisions we've needed to make for our family, the kids activities and even some of my creative stuff too.  I'm feeling really good about some things coming up in the next while and i am SO proud of my kids- I can't wait to share more!!!!   Anyway, I know I don't talk about spiritual stuff very much, but this week has been one of those weeks that proves that if you are being STILL..being VERY still and being OPEN to hearing what the answers to your prayers are...that you can actually read what God writes on your heart sometimes and that is pretty. darn. amazing.

So today, at The Greeting Farm, our heART journaling class is featuring projects using ONE WORD as the focus of our page/pages today and here is mine...FAITH:
Stamps: Spring Butterflies and Bubble Wrap background by Stamping bella.

This page ended up being a LOT more journaling than I had thought, LOL!   But, I drew an unfinished staircase to symbolize one of my favorite quotes about faith:
"Faith is taking the FIRST step, even when you don't see the WHOLE STAIRCASE..."  ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

Speaking of faith, I have a friend who needs prayers and if there's one thing I put a lot of faith in besides God and my family, it's a few of my good friends.  I have some information about "OPERATION JULIE SMILE" today that I'd like to share with you:

**********************************************

A bloggin' friend of mine, Julie Ranae Murray, has been a faithful friend to me and is also involved in coordinating the Twinery team we serve on together.  Much more than that, though, we've become friends and when I heard about her recent dental emergency, I felt compelled to help.  It is by FAITH that we are called to help sometimes, and it is by FAITH that we 'get by with a little help from our friends" sometimes too...  Here's her story:

Many may know that a few weeks ago, Julie Ranae had to have emergency oral surgery resulting in the removal of her two front teeth.  The dentist at that time believed the best course of action would be to remove the rest of her teeth and replace them with permanents. (as to avoid *years* of dental work) Relieved at finding a solution to this major dental problem .. she visited the office for dental surgery the week. Unfortunately, it wasn't the visit she was expecting.  After the consultation and scheduling the surgery, the surgeon's office informed her that she would need to bring $4000 back to the appointment with her and they would proceed.  This amount would not include the 'dentures' to follow.

Here Julie is today, sitting without front teeth that were pulled with the belief that they would be replaced immediately.
It is an overwhelming experience for our dear friend and one that I hope our creative community can help with.

SO...HOW can you help?

There will be a benefit blog hop called 'Operation Julie's Smile' that will take place Oct 7-9.  There are a variety of
companies and design teams who will be participating in this hop to help raise funds for this benefit, and THE GREETING FARM is one of them!
So far, nearly $500 in prizes have been made available and will be awarded for both participants and those who donate. (paypal button on my sidebar!)

Operation Julie's Smile is now accepting designers/teams who would like to be a part of the benefit hop. If you are interested
in getting involved in this creative fundraising event, please contact Nicole Rixon at nicolehrixon@gmail.com.

The deadline to be a part of the hop is Wednesday, Sept 28th. Participants will be notified of the blog hop order between Oct 3rd-5th.

This blog hop is an opportunity to have fun, feature your design work and raise money for a friend in need. A donation button
will be made available to all who participate.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this post, and help restore a little faith to a friend who's in a tight spot.  Love and hugs to you all!
xoxo

Every Cloud has a Silver Lining...

Hey everyone!

It's Friday...and I'd say TGIF but I am battling a bit of a pest right now...aka a sinus thing.  Ugh!  I guess when you add up the fact that it was 106 last weekend, plummeted to 55 this past week, and is now in the 70s, that make for some wonky changes in pressure.  Add to that, it was a bit of a trying week (which has also proven to be over and actually, a blessing and I am oh-so-grateful for good friends and loyal peeps :) and the fact that we have been painting the bathroom....yeah, I'll just say, Ouch.  Not a fan of that pressure and 'fuzzy' head feeling...but this too, shall pass, right?

Today I'm posting an Art Journal page for Bella-riffic Friday and also my entry for this week's "Cloud" theme in the TGF heART Journaling challenge.

"Too many people MISS the SILVER LINING because they're expecting gold..."  ~Maurice Setter

I love that.   So it became the sentiment for my "Silver Lining" themed page.

Funny story..well, not funny, but it appears that I do not have ANY Stamping Bella animal stamps that were required for this week's challenge...not even those cute cute kitties :(  It also turns out I have NO animal paper (not even a leopard print or zebra stripe to be found!) and NO animal embellishments.  So....

the CLOSEST thing I had to an animal was a beautiful Butterfly from the "Spring Butterflies" set.  Here's my page for this week's challenge:

Also used for this page:

Next week we are taking off for Bella-riffic Friday as da Bella herself will be at ScrapFest in Minnesohhhhta, so check out this fun sketch for the 23rd and I hope you'll ALL play- you've got two whole weeks to get this one under your belt:

That's it for me today, but be sure to check out Bloggabella for the latest and greatest from da othah Bellas... :)

Journaling from the heART...

Hey, hey, everyone!

A little rainy-day post today...I wasn't going to blog today but I sort of felt like it, and haven't gotten to show all of my art journaling pages yet so I thought I would...

First of all, I just have to say how absolutely AWESOME my friend and boss, Marie is.  Not only does she encourage everyone to start art journaling, but she believes in it so much that she actually is sponsoring a 24-week journey with a prize at the end, even if you do not use a single TGF stamp on your journaling pages.  How amazing is she?!?

The Greeting Farm is truly...TRULY my heart.  I am reminded of this daily...because of the people who support it, the amazing talent of ALL the people who share with us, the sweet spirit of the stamping community, and the devotion to promoting a small business who otherwise wouldn't be able to thrive without such wonderful support.  Most of all, think it is amazing to work for someone such as her and be able to put my own heart and soul into everything I do, as well as being free to design using other stamps as well so that I never feel creatively 'stunted.'   She really rocks, and I don't know two people in the world who work better together than her and I  <3

On that note,  I am so happy to support this awesome challenge issued by The Greeting Farm and am also excited to be participating!    Here is a page I created a few weeks ago for our "paper piecing" challenge.  I think the page TRULY speaks for itself:

The "Hanging Heart" stamp is from Stamping Bella and is one of my favorite backdrops to use for Art Journaling.  If you are REALLY into it, you can also participate in the Stamping Bella Art Journaling Monday challenges/tutorials over on Bloggabella.   :)

That's about it for me today, but I'll be back tomorrow with two posts so thanks as always for staying with me...gonna be a busy week over here!  <3

I used my August Key Ingredients kit from Taylored Expressions to create this card.  Everything is included in the kit w/ the exception of the Kraft card stock base I used and the Peapod Twine by the Twinery!

Next week's challenge is all ready for you guys to participate in!

Speaking. MY. Truth...

***IF you are looking for my ECHO PARK/TWINERY Blog Hop post, click HERE ***

Friday.
Fun Day.
an "I don't have to run day..."  LOL!  No, seriously, it's prob the first day in a WHILE that I don't :)

It's also time to share another week's topic from The Greeting Farm's "Heart Journaling" journey.  This is a journey that I am REALLY loving!

This past week's (week 4) assignment was to create a HAND DRAWN girl.
Say that with me.  HAND. DRAWN. G....
no, just stop at HAND. DRAWN.
yikes!

I had NO idea how I was gonna pull this off.  NONE.  Thankfully there was Google, and the fact that I pretty much knew I wanted my creation to look SOMETHING like the "SheArt" stuff by Christy Tomlinson that I've been seeing around the blogosphere.

Still that one PESKY little problem though- the fact that I cannot draw.  True story.  It was google and my daughter, Madelynn to the rescue- madelynn was my cheerleader and she actually created a page too that I'll be posting later!  I am so proud of her!
(please click on the image to enlarge- you can see a lot more of the detail on the face and legs if you do ;)

So....here's the deal.  I did it.  I did it ANNNNND I liked it!  after decorating the background with Spring Butterflies,  the Mini Bubblewrap, Mesh and French Script, I went to work on drawing her.  It helps if you start out with the DRESS portion, I can tell you that.  I think it makes it more 'proportioned' when you're trying to draw the rest of her.  Worked for me, anyway!

What do you guys think?  As for the paper, it's the new My Mind's Eye 6x6 Stack "lost and found" and I'm in LOVE!  The papers are perfect for her and when I saw the measuring tape DP I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do.

Every stamp on here is Stamping Bella except for the sentiment "Speak the Truth, even if your  voice shakes" is from the new Verve set, "Words of Wisdom".

...and wisdom this is, INDEED.

"Speak the TRUTH...even if your voice shakes... "

...and my first 'truth'?  As shown above... NO ONE. should EVER. ever. hold you up to their own 'measuring stick' of expectations.  That is on them, not on you.
True friendship and love comes from and by ACCEPTANCE of the beautiful person you are...the unique makeup of one's SOUL <3
remember that, k?

I am a 'people pleaser.'.  So this little bit of wisdom took me a while...and it's a precious lesson learned.

FREE to be me.
and you are FREE to be YOU.
and I will appreciate you for all the "YOUness" that comes with that, because we are all so beautifully different.
TRUTH.  Acceptance.
They are BEAUTIFUL things... and that is the TRUTH :)

Noel, Noelle....

Hiya peeps!

It's been QUITE a week for me- with two of my most favorite stamp companies having releases that kicked off this past Monday....at The Greeting Farm and at Stamping Bella!

I am SOOOO not a 'rush Christmas' kinda girl.  To be truthful, Christmas in July challenges drive me a bit batty and I've even been known to get slightly irritated when I see lights going up before Thanksgiving...I don't know...I guess, to me, there is so much beauty in BOTH those seasons/holidays, I hate to rush into it.  We all know that I'm also not a fan of COLD, LOL!  Perhaps that, too, is why, but I am reminded each August/September that the stamping world, and even more so the craft publishing world, has to be 3 steps ahead....

...well, today I have a card that is part of the new release- the MEGA release (29 new stamps!!!!) at Stamping Bella.  Introducing NOELLE BEARING GIFTS:

... is she NOT the cutest?

I had a TON of fun stamping and chit-chatting with one of my bestest girls in the world, Pam Varnell this weekend and really enjoyed coloring her up w/ my Copics!   I just got the new 6x6 stack of My Mind's Eye Christmas paper, too- so I used like colors and it was a perfect match!   Wouldn't you welcome this cutie knocking on your door?

I'll be back tomorrow with a VERY fun and jam-packed day...so thanks as always for stopping by, I really love that you do!

Sweet Watermelons, flowers, and a GIVEAWAY for a Summer "Send-off"...

Ok...I am not REALLY sending off Summer because part of the reason I live in the South is to PROLONG our summer as long as possible!  However, school has been in session for TWO weeks now, can ya believe it?  I still can't.  My heart has literally left me in little pieces these past few weeks as I watch my children grow up before my eyes...thankfully these pieces are returned to me, almost in tact, each day they return off the bus  (even on those 'chaos' days, haha!)

Anyway, I have a card today debuting a BRAND NEW stamp from Stamping Bella, this little chick's name is JASMINE and she is DARLING, is she not?!  LOVE her.  Today for the Bella-riffic Friday challenge we had a 'paper piercing' challenge so as you can see I had fun piercing :)   Next week's challenge is to pull out those CUTE "huggabuggs" and use 'em!  Check out the rest of my Bellariffic teammates too- links are on my left sidebar here!

So....my last trip to the Nashville Farmer's Market inspired me to think of how much I LOVE flowers and watermelon, in particular, during the summer.  That may sound funny, but it's where my mind went while making this card, which is also featured today over on the TWINERY BLOG!.  Also inspiring was a card I received for my birthday (another one of my favorite things about summer!) from a dear friend of mine who used Twinery Twine that she created into a handmade flower embellishment.  I loved it SO much I had to try it and here's what I came up with:

I took some BLOSSOM twine snippets and glued them down to the back of a button, being careful to leave the button holes open until I achieved the desired look of this flower.   Wrapping some HONEYDEW twine around my card  (see the cute watermelon-inspired paper?) I pulled it through the button and tied it into a bow.  This was SO EASY and so much fun to do!

Now, speaking of ALL this cute Twinery twine, have you seen the newest COLORS?   Check them out:
As I am feeling UBER grateful for my friends in the stamping community (I'm hanging out with TWO of them TODAY, as a matter of fact...can you guess WHO they are?  LOL!) and my family, I am GIVING AWAY a sampler pack of this new TWINE!

Leave me a comment here saying what YOUR favorite thing about summer is and I'll announce the winner on Monday at 12:01 AM CST so you have all through SUNDAY NIGHT to enter!

Good luck and thanks for sending-off SUMMER with me so sweetly!  <3

Hardware malfunction...

Say it with me....oy.
LOL!

After installing some updates on my trusty ol' laptop here and some weather moving into the area I have had some computer and internet woes- so sorry my Bellariffic Friday post is up a bit late, but I'm SO glad you're here!

I have been wanting to play with this ADORABLE Tabitha Tea Cup girl stamp for a while and today was the day!

This week at Stamping Bella we have a "Hardware" challenge, to use hardware on our projects.  I'm not a big fan of the metal embellies but these Filigree brads from Stampin' Up! have always been one of my favorite embellishments to use.  I think they are so pretty and dainty looking and were just PERFECT for proper Miss Tabitha here :)

I paper pieced her teacup and she's colored with Copics.  My apologies about the thick border on this card, I was fooling around with Photoshop in preparation for a HUGE 365 Project I am participating in and trying to get the basics of PSE 8 down...what a feat!  Sheesh!

Be sure to check out the rest of the Bellariffic Babes this week:

Next up?   one of my FAVE techniques!  Our August 12th challenge is to use PAPER PIERCING on your card or project- so send those Bellariffic projects into Em- you never know!  You could win Bella bucks just for entering or commenting on Bloggabella.~

on that note- I'll be back soon.  I have a HeART Journaling project to share and a giveaway this weekend too!  For now, I'm clearing off the table to STAMP with my Mama :)   I can't wait til' she gets here to play with me!

...a Bella-riffic Christmas in JULY?!...

...ok.  I gotta tell ya- I LOOOOOVE my Bellas.  My Stamping Bellas... ;)

So much so, that it's ONE HUNDRED (and two ;) degrees out and I'm having to bend my brain to Christmas time.  LOL!!!  Now, I know that LOTS of new product comes out LONG before the weather outside gets frightful, but I am so not a winter person to begin with that this is really hard for me.  In fact, I don't even submit to the mag's during this time of year because they usually want Christmas copy and well...I just don't do Christmas THAT early.

However, I pulled out some leftover (and retired) Girls' Paperie scraps and this super cute little stamp "Santa's Birdhouse" from Stamping Bella to make my "Christmas in July" card today:

Well, what do you think?  Are you hearing carols and craving hot chocolate?  I guess I've succeeded if you are...or maybe even just if you think it's cute, LOL!!!

Be sure to stop by the rest of da Bellas to see how THEY got festive today:

That's all for me.... be back soon and ENJOY a lovely weekend, everyone!

Bellariffic Friday, peeps!

Hey, all!
As good ol' Willie would say, I'm "on the road again!"  :)
Gotta get back to the fam and I have missed them so I can't wait.  Tomorrow is also my birthday and I am a week overdue on starting the week-long celebration that normally ensues prior to the big day.  HA!
Just kiddin'...sorta ;)
Seriously though, I am SO excited and looking forward to some sun and FUN this weekend...and relaxing, which by now is much-needed <3

Today at Stamping Bella it's another terrific sketch challenge by the adorable Ebrubella!
There's a FUN little twist on this too- you choose, round or square?!
Here's the sketch:

My card uses only a sentiment, but it's one of my FAVES.. "be HAPPY, it's contagious!"  So true and such simple words to live by :)

I also am keeping up w/ my week of Key Ingredients from Taylored Expressions and use all products from this month's kit again and added an extra flower.  If you're just tuning in,  I'm showing you JUST HOW MANY cards/ projects you can get from a Key Ingredients subscription this week, and that's AFTER I made a set of 4 cards, my Blast from the Past card, AND another card I'll be showing later.  There is SO MUCH you can do with these kits- check them out!

I haven't made a circle card in a while- it was FUN!

As always, you will definitely want to head over to Bloggabella as there are PRIZES.
One is JUST for commenting on today's post there and another for participating in the sketch today!  Lots of chances to WIN!

....and just so we stay ahead of the game, NEXT WEEK's challenge is a "Christmas in July" challenge.  I am SO not ready for this, but hey, that's why they call a challenge a challenge, right?  ;)

For now, check out the SUPER -dee-DUPER Bella Babes:

That's it for me!  I will see y'all soon and have a FAB Friday, everyone!

Deconstructing and possibly combusting...

...from either the EXTREME Chicago heat or the crazy laughter that is probably happening right now between me and the "Deconstructed Sketch" guru herself, Jen Shults :)

That's right!  My girl and I are embarking on Day 2 (SUPERSHOW) day of CHA and I'm excited to be helping out at the  Taylored Expressions booth for a bit, too!  Come see us if you're in the area- the more the merrier, I always say :)

So Jen has provided another FABULOUS sketch for this week's challenge, here is DS11:

And here is my card, in keeping with my week of using ONLY the KEY INGREDIENTS kit for JULY...

I used the super sweet "Annie" stamp from Stamping Bella and the Butterfly Wishes sentiments is also Stamping bella.
I hope you like it!  I have SO much going on this week so I wanted to say a special thanks to all who follow and comment on my blog.  I just noticed the other day that I have made it over the 600-follower mark w/out ever having had a blog candy or giveaway that has 'required' following.  You are ALL here b/c you wanted to be and I can't tell you how AMAZING that feels to me.

    Getting Inspired...

...with RIBBON CAROUSEL.com's CHALLENGE today and by our BRAND NEW Design Team member, my sweet friend Savannah O'Gwynn!

I have known Sav for about 2 years, I think, back when I first was with Unity.  Savvy is not only sweet, but she's been published NUMEROUS times and just isn't recognized ENOUGH for the talented and awesome designer she is!  I am SO so stoked that she's our newest DT member- WELCOME, my friend!  xoxo

Our challenge this week comes from DT member and another WAY talented chick, Laurel Seabrook!  Here's RCC 11:
I have to admit I struggled a bit when I first saw this challenge. I do not own a SINGLE piece of grey cardstock, for starters, LOL!  Thankfully, it was Stella and Rose (from My Mind's Eye :) to the rescue and some fun rose trim from Theresa Collins.  I am SO glad I pulled something together for this challenge- cuz hey, if you're not REALLLLY  "challenged" sometimes, where's the fun in that?!  The stamped sentiment "Just wanted to say" is one of my favorites from Stamping Bella:

Be sure to check out the rest of our Ribbon Carousel Crew today:

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the RCC BLOG for ALL the rules/deets/sponsorship deets and prize info as there is LOTS to see over there!   I'll be back TOMORROW with a SUPER fun Blog Swap post for the HELMAR/PSA Essentials swap going on RIGHT NOW!

    Madly Excited...

...about another fun art journal page :)

    hey peeps!
I'm back today (on a Saturday, I know!) with a page hot off the press and that'll go RIGHT into my art journal after I'm done blogging about it :)

I couldn't wait to use the hanging hearts from Stamping Bella- I LOVE this image.  The sentiment is something I found on Pinterest which I absolutely ADORE and printed out:

"Be MADLY EXCITED about the potential of TODAY..."
    do you LOVE that??????

I also used the MESH background from the Stamping Bella set shown HERE.

How many of you guys are art journaling?  I TOTALLY love it and would love to see your pictures! Weekend project, maybe?
    Yes, let's ;)

    xoxo,
    Jess :)
